This blog is inspired by my 2009 weight loss. At the time, I got so many questions about how I did it, so here are the answers!
It started June 1, 2009 when I found the book Waistland by Deirdre Barrett. From that day, I stopped eating sugar or any sweeteners. I began losing weight slowly. As time passed, I read more nutrition books, such as Ultrametabolism and Anticancer. I improved my diet, adding more healthy meals and less processed food.
On August 24, 2009, I became vegan and started experimenting with raw food recipes. My weight loss ended at a total of 35 pounds, and I went from a size 14 to a size 4 in about 5 months.
In 2011 I realized that raw food is a great cleanse, but not a great plan for eating long term. Same with veganism. I am now experiencing the Weston A. Price Traditional Food lifestyle, continuing to keep lots of vegetable dishes involved. My repertoire of vegetable recipes is huge, due to my vegan phase. I now have access to lots of local animal foods, including bone broths and kefir, and I now fully embrace saturated fat :).
